Hello again and Happy New Year to you !
We've just started the Chinese Year of the Rat. As its the first one of the cycle , this year is symbolically excellent for New Beginnings.
I like "New Beginnings" because they always offer the chance of a fresh start, even a new direction.
But I've also found that I love new directions. Lots of them!
Another word for them could be DISTRACTIONS
Flexible, adapting, creative , opportunistic, dynamic, interesting ...all words that can cover up an incessant desire to be distracted from our purpose. How do I know this ...Ive realised that I can be a Master of Distraction.
How do we recognise if we are distracting ourselves from our soul direction?
See if you recognise any of these for yourself...
- 1) Eating or drinking something just at the moment when we are called to action for example, to make a telephone call or complete a form
- 2) Manifesting a new brilliant business opportunity just at the moment when the next step is to commit to our dream
-3) Finding a new direction and feeling the overwheming need to share this new direction with others, in an attempt to make it more real to ourselves.
- 4) Wasting time on "to do" lists only to reach the end of a month with a lost sense of direction.
- 5) Struggling to define what we do to others in a clear and enthusiastic way.
- 6) Presenting a posistive image to others whilst backing it up internally with words such as " Pull yourself together and be positive"

When we are truly aligned to our purpose, we are naturally happy and at ease with ourselves. We know what we want and nothing can distract us. We are clear about our place in this world and how to fill it.
OK OK , I hear you gasp. We already know all of this.
What we really want to know is, how do we find our true purpose in life ? How do we get that clarity?
Well I can only talk from my own experience ...
The first thing that I did was to "set an Intention of Clarity".
I declared to myself and the Universe that my mission was not love, nor good health, nor riches ; it was INNER CLARITY
I reckoned that once I had Clarity the rest would arrive easily at my door. And in setting that intention, I put in motion this journey towards my truth.
My dream is that everyone in the world gets clear about who they are and why they are really here ,
but for now its enough for me to find my own pathway, however faint it may be to start with.
My immediate challenge is to avoid all the crossroads and roundabouts along the way that provide such compelling distractions. In the end I feel so dizzy with new directions that I need to start at base again with an exercise to help me decide what I really really want.
Ill share the exercise with you on my next blog ..I promise.

In the meantime , instead of counting sheep tonight, why not try counting the distractions in your life or the ways in which you distract yourself each day?
Id love to hear of some of your favourite distractions ...
With my love
MC xx
